I’m here for every ounce of fall weather: sunshine and sweaters, hibernating perennials and the first snow on Mt Timpanogos, apple cinnamon sourdough and herb tea. Bring it on. Make it last as long as possible.
Readying herself in the darkness just beyond all of that, however, is the richest of hygge seasons. Early winter/jul is a time to celebrate contrasts. I always find it wonderful–every single year–that in the darkest time of the year, people still manage to put hope on a pedestal and make it shine. I love Christmas and winter.
As the season darkens, there are gatherings that bring people together and let them share their joy and light and warmth. I hope you will consider joining me at two such events: the Heritage Arts Co. Christmas Market at The Shops at Riverwoods in Provo on November 5-7 (North Sea Baking will be there on November 5th from 6-9pm and November 7th from 11-2pm), and also the BYU Scandinavian Christmas Market from 4-9m on Thursday, November 19th (Joseph F Smith Building courtyard).
Preorders will be on hold during these events, and the offerings will be things like glazed nuts, lots of Scandinavian Christmas cookies, Cardamom knots and Lucia buns, and a variety of fun, non-food Scandinavian items. The year just keeps getting more and more festive as it comes to a close and I’m excited to share that with you. Hope to see you at one (or both) of these Christmas Markets!
